Most carbon fiber composite materials on the market are composite materials composed of high-strength carbon fiber materials with a carbon content of over 90% fused with a resin matrix. Carbon fiber tube is made by cutting, laying and curing carbon fiber composite prepreg at high temperature. First, let's take a look at the advantages of carbon fiber tube?
1. Lightweight, the density of carbon fiber itself is relatively low. Generally, the density of carbon fiber pipes is about 1.6q/cm3. Compared with steel pipes of the same size, carbon fiber pipes are only a quarter of their weight. In many applications of weight loss products, the lightweight advantage of carbon fiber tubes is particularly evident.
2. High tensile strength, the tensile strength of carbon fiber tubes is also very high. Although the tensile strength of the produced carbon fiber tubes may vary due to different processes, usually around 100 million psi, it can be as low as 40 million psi. The tensile strength of steel pipes can only reach 29 million psi, which is much lower than the tensile strength of carbon fiber pipes.
3. High shear strength. Carbon fiber tubes are made by laminating carbon fiber pre impregnated materials and curing them under high temperature and high pressure. The shear strength of carbon fiber tubes can be changed by changing the angle and sequence of the layers. Generally, the shear strength of carbon fiber tubes can reach 8Gpa, which is much higher than that of traditional steel tubes.
4. High stability. Compared with metal pipes, carbon fiber pipes have better corrosion resistance and very strong anti-aging performance, which makes the pipes have very high performance stability and longer service life, including better stability at high and low temperatures, and can also have very good performance in some bad environments.
Disadvantages of Carbon Fiber Tube
1. High price. Compared with metal pipes, carbon fiber pipes are more expensive. On the one hand, the materials are more expensive, and on the other hand, the production and processing of carbon fiber pipes require a lot of manpower and material resources, so the overall price will be much higher.
2. The performance of the pipes is not uniform. Due to the fact that carbon fiber pipes are mostly manually laid and processed, if there are gaps during the laying process due to improper stacking or compaction, the overall performance of the pipes will deviate.
3. Insufficient high temperature resistance. Carbon fiber can withstand temperatures of several thousand degrees Celsius, but the normal high temperature resistance of carbon fiber pipes can only be around 200 ℃. This is mainly due to the insufficient high temperature resistance of the resin. At present, in order to improve the high temperature resistance of carbon fiber pipes, thermoplastic resin matrix is being used.
The above is an interpretation of the advantages and disadvantages of carbon fiber tubes. I believe everyone has a good understanding of carbon fiber tubes. If you have customization needs, you can directly contact our technical personnel or come to our company for a visit and exchange.
