Viscose fiber is a type of regenerated cellulose fiber, also known as artificial silk. It is made from natural fibers such as wood, hemp, and cotton, which are processed into pulp, sulfonated, matured, and spun.

 

Rayon based carbon fiber is a fiber material mainly composed of carbon, which is made from viscose fiber as raw material, subjected to low-temperature heat treatment, and then subjected to high-temperature heat treatment above 800 ℃ in a non oxidizing atmosphere.

 

Rayon based carbon fibers not only have the advantages of high specific strength, high specific modulus, chemical corrosion resistance, and good lubricity, but also have characteristics such as low specific gravity, high purity, long fracture elongation, softness, good braiding, low thermal conductivity, large specific surface area, and easy activation. They play an irreplaceable role in the aerospace industry and cutting-edge military technology.

Unlike traditional carbon fibers made from polyacrylonitrile (PAN) or asphalt, Rayon based carbon fibers have unique characteristics that make them particularly effective in high-temperature environments.

low modulus (80 GPA, similar to aluminum)

high heat insulation properties (as fiber has many pores and defects on its surface)

resistance to thermal load up to 3000 C in inert gas, vacuum, or N2

resistance to thermal load up to 450 C on air

chemical resistance level same as graphite

no melting point

rayon carbon fiber is electroconductive

carbon content is 99+%, ash content less than 1%

carbon cloth is soft, flexible, no skin irritating (reason is low modulus)

rayon carbon fiber is easy to impregnate with any resin type (epoxy, phenolic, novolac)

Rayon based carbon felt and graphite felt have excellent thermal insulation performance in vacuum or inert atmosphere, and are very stable under high temperature conditions. And it has the advantages of light weight, low specific heat capacity, lower thermal conductivity than the corresponding polyacrylonitrile based carbon felt graphite felt, good insulation, soft texture, and easy operation. It is widely used as insulation material for high-temperature vacuum furnaces and inert atmosphere furnaces, and can also be used as a filtering material in corrosive media.
